Yes, this is it! This is my first real personal homepage. Ironic that I have been developing PHP, once called personal homepage, for over 5 years now and never really had a personal homepage of my own. However previously the websites I created where mostly for customers. Some web pages were created together with friends of co-workers.
As such I was faced with the troubles that you get when suddenly nobody talks back and all ideas are final until you throw them out again :-)
Content-wise I will probably be talking alot about PHP and SQL. However as I am currently going on an educational (my self-coined term for focusing on education for a while, well I could have just said sabbatical, but being german and all I love creating new words). I might slip in a few more personal notes regarding politics, ultimate frisbee or other private interests.
One of these days I am probably also going to enable categories and comments on this blog. Speaking of blog and enabling: this blog is based on the WebBuilder2 content management framework. Its quite a powerful tool, though it was mainly used to develop intranet webapplications. Earlier this year it was opensourced under the LGPL license. So its yours to play with!
Finally the observant of you may have noticed that the fact that I am going on an educational might imply something about my professional career as well. How very observant of you! Yes, we at BackendMedia have decided that we best focus the company on system and network administration. This means that all software developers employed by BackendMedia will now be working as freelancers taking care of our old clients. For a small team like us the ups and downs that software development projects inheritely bring with them were hard to smoothen out as a company. Now that we are freelancers we have many more opportunities to choose from. Of course we have all the old clients as before, so for our customers things remain somewhat unchanged.
Notice I just said "we". Yes, I am leaving BackendMedia to become a freelancer. Since I was the head of the software development team and there is no software development team at BackendMedia the step is kind of logical. However its quite likely that I will still be doing a number of projects with all my good friends from BackendMedia. Anyways if you have work for someone who can only work part time (remember I am on an educational) please let me know.
Ah, those wondering about the phrase "poo tee weet" should go investigate, interesting things lie ahead for those of you who do :-)
