So a few things happened in the last few weeks or will be happening that I find worth sharing. First up Pagenello, the biggest Ultimate Frisbee tournament in Europe, was blast. Plenty of sun while playing 10 beach Frisbee matches in 4 days with some quality time chilling in Rimini before and after the tournament.
Yesterday I also held a slightly updated version of my "Explaining Explain" talk (now called "Finding Order in Execution") at the webtuesday usergroup meeting here in Zurich. As always you can find a pdf with the slides in the slides section of my blog.
Speaking of speaking I will be giving a talk on PHP6 at MySQL User conference. The aim of the talk is to prepare the user for all BC breaks that are sure to happen, give a glimpse of the new features implemented and what additions are still looming on the horizon. Of course I will also cover the mysqlnd driver, which saw a first beta release just the other day.
After MySQL User conference I will actually be touring the US offices of my employer Optaros (BTW: we are looking for top notch PHP and Javascript developers to join our team!). In between I will also spend some quality time with my parents and my sister in Florida. To round it all off I will be giving 2 talks at php|tek in Chicago on PHP ORM's and database locking before I will fly home to Zurich. Really looking forward to this .. I will be seeing a lot of places and people for the first time!
One last thing I should note is that we here at Optaros have recently published a survey on how people are leveraging all the new shiny Javascript enabled websites. We at Optaros call this NGI - Next Generation Internet - instead of the O'Reilly trademarked term Web 2.0. Check it out, might give you some hard facts to through around in your next argument on the topic :)
