Shame on you Xdebug users!

Derick recently released Xdebug 2, you know that thing that makes your coding life sooooo much easier. That thing which took hours and hours to develop. Here it is in all its shiny stable glory. So what did the author ask in return for releasing this goody as open source, already in its second incarnation? He asked for a little post card send to Norway. Thats it! Thats all he asked in return.

Giving that people who post their phone numbers just to see if someone will call get thousands of calls, I am a bit surprised that Derick has not been flooded with postcards. He after all actually did something useful!

Well today Derick received my postcard (this was the snail mail follow up to my electronic postcard). I was shocked when he told me that to date he had only received 2 electronic and 2 snail mail postcards. Actually it seems now he get another one with gummy bears. So maybe everybody waited a few days like I did for sending out their postcard. Or maybe YOU (yes thats you in capital letters to make it clear that I mean YOU the reader) need to sit down and write him a postcard NOW! The address can be found on his about page.

Re: Shame on you Xdebug users!

Developing software is a thankless and lonely job. People are happy with the job done by others. They will use it every day and they will piss on you if something is going wrong. Once you're gone, nobody will remember you.
Its like computer books which, after a half-life period of 6 months, are ready for trash.

By the way; does somebody know the half-life period of Dostoevsky?

Re: Shame on you Xdebug users!

Well,

The human body is made of so many different elements, one cannot define a single half-life for it.

Even if one were to derive a semi-accurate half-life for a human body, it would be moot in Dostoevsky's case because he died "prematurely" of complications from emphysema.

Re: Shame on you Xdebug users!

Shame on me, I must visited homepage of xdebug a dozen of times but I never have read whole intro text. I'm using xdebug a lot and it saves me a lot of time during debuging. So I'm sending a postcard to Derick right away.

Thanx for a notice though.

Re: Shame on you Xdebug users!

Hey ! I sent mine from Maremma in Tuscany, Italy.

Just had to increase text size to understand that barred o char. ;)

Bye bye.
